This chef and the people who run this restaurant and professionals. Menu is exquisite the place is clean and the staff is very well trained. This is the best authentic Italian food in San Diego. Must try the lasagne!

Heres a note on what to expect for flavor and seasoning here We found a full range of flavor present and accounted for. The seasoning, however, as might be expected given Chefs self-proclaimed predilection for allowing the natural flavors to shine through, was not at a level that we preferred. With that said, theres no amount of salt and pepper that can make a bland or blase dish better only saltier and spicier. In the case of Chef Lotas presentations, a couple of pinches of salt and a quick turn or three on the peppercorn grinder gave food that was nice an upward turn trending toward wonderful.

Yummy Italian and atmospheric dining room at Liberty Station.Lunch was busy at this festive Italian spot and popular cooking school for a reason: the food was delicious and the fun cozy decor was inviting. I especially liked the semi-private wine room in the middle of the restaurant. The crisp Pere e Gorgonzola salad was light and tasty and the Pizza Verdure loaded with veggies had a true Naples style thin crust. This doesn’t surprise me because Chef Accursio Lota is from there. I can’t wait to go back and try the handmade pasta! wabisabigreen.com

Fantastic. My husband and I have enjoyed this restaurant since it opened in Liberty Station. The two highlights at Solare from this year (2010) have been: our daughter and son-in-law’s rehearsal dinner was held at Solare; and my husband and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary by reserving the Chef’s Window for the evening. Both events over-exceeded our expectations. The food has always been consistently delicious, the service over-the-top and the ambience warm and inviting. We give this restaurant 10 stars!!!

Tasting Menu: FANTASTIC. I am a Point Loma resident and a confessed foody who travels the country going to restaurant weeks and arranging fine dining experiences for my wife and me. I contacted Chef Stephano to arrange a 6 course tasting menu at the Chef’s Table (really a bar with two stools that views the kitchen). My wife has definate flavor preferences, and the Executive Chef (Massimo, who was a rising rock star of the culinary world in NYC until he recently came here) was fantastic. At least 10 courses later, my 6 course tasting menu was still going and despite our having starved ourselves for the day, we could eat no more. More importantly, the food was fantastic, as good as the great NYC restaurants and certainly the best Italian in San Diego. The squid ink and lobster Ravioli was inconceivablly savory and delicous. The food was all clearly sourced, fresh, local, (exept for the fin fish which come from Italy) and organic.Whether you arrange this special experience for around $70 a person (a great deal for this experience) or order off the menu, this restaurant is a true gem in San Diego.I have never posted my e mail with a review, but am doing it on this one just so people know that I am not connected with the restaurant: [email protected]
