So out on a weekend morning and dropped kids off at the mall then wanted to eat with hubby…I remembered this little place at the corner that always caught my eye and strangely positioned as part of the hotel. We went to check it out and it’s a nice little spot with good food. It was too early for me to try a cocktail but people we’re ordering them and they looked appealing. I had the red chillequilles and the sauce was thick and house made with a mix of different peppers (not spicy). It was visually attractive with a scrambled egg on top like an omlete. No your typical messy plate with sauce everywhere, egg, rice beans…it was a fancy version I guess you could say. It’s worth stopping by if in the area. Service was great, friendly, attentive.

This is a place I’ve always driven pass when going to The Block. I’m glad I finally took the time to try it out. There wasn’t a big crowd so I didn’t have to wait for seating. The server was nice and suggested a few entrees. I placed my order and was given bread with a butter spread that was amazing. I could have ate the bread and butter by itself and would have left satisfied. My deconstructed pork belly taco appetizer arrived which was awesome. Pork belly done right!!! Next up was the main course which was a chimichurri marinated steak and chilaquiles…great flavor. The meals were very filling and the prices were reasonable.I’ve seen lots of dishes on the menu I wanted to try but was riding solo that day so only ordered the two dishes that stood out the most to me. Therefore, I will be returning to this restaurant for more great food.Visit date 7/10/2014

I’ve been to Anapalco’s many times, but this time was the first time in about a year. I used to love this place, and felt the creativity of the owner always made the menu interesting and exciting. Something has changed here. A wine bar has been added, and the number of tables reduced. I’m sure this was an economic decision and that was fine. Unfortunately, there is no sound mitigation. The people drinking at the wine bar were only about 10′ from our table, and were extremely loud and obnoxious. This totally distracted from the meal. Then the music was turned up to mask the noise at the wine bar. We couldn’t hear normal conversation, or hear the waiter talk. In the past, I have really enjoyed the different and creative steak preparations, like the coffee-encrusted skirt steak with a bourbon BBQ sauce, so I ordered the Hanger Steak, tonight, which was the only steak on the menu. It was served with a poached egg and Avocado mouse dollaps. Was this awful! The mix of odd red spices on the plate tasted more like dirt, than anything else. The steak was served sliced on a bed of something that reminded me of soggy Fritos chips. The avocado mouse tasted like Miracle Whip, and was way too green to be natural. Now I understand why the tables have absolutely no light. No table lights, no overhead lighting. The only light came from the wine bar divider that had strategically placed LED candles. The food on the plate was a disaster, and they knew it, so by keeping the room dark, it sends the message of intrigue, but not in a good way. I’m crossing Anapalco’s off my list of restaurants I savor.

This is by far the Best Spinach Salad I have ever eaten This place is amazing – don’t be fooled by their location – I’ve eaten in restaurants all over the world & Anepalco’s has some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten – the seasonings & ingredients are all perfectly balanced – a bright future is ahead for these talented restauranteurs.
