I was a big fan of Gabbi’s but the last couple of times the food was just okay. I still enjoy the bar and drinks!

I had lunch and thought this was some of the best Mexican food I have eaten in a very long time. No boring combination plates here. The menu is very interesting and the items all have a high end touch. The salsa they serve with the chips in my opinion is the best around. On a down side they make you wait, even when they have seating available. 10 minute wait was worth it but I did not understand why. Once seated. It. Was interesting to watch other people deal with the wait. I got a good laugh. We had great service and a very attentive waiter.

Great food, really well presented, and the serving staff was phenomenal. You can’t go wrong with the entrees but for sure try the churros for dessert. They are a delight.

Return visit a bit underwhelming. Service was still great, but I detected an overall decline in the food on a return visit to Gabbi’s on Memorial Day 2013. Everything from the Guacamole appetizer, Tortilla Soup, and entrees were clear misses. The place still packs them in, but I was disappointed and would not go out of my way unless it was for strictly the atmosphere.06 Aug, 2012Well worth the wait. Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen had been on my wishlist for sometime, however I had never made the visit until last weekend. Not having made reservations, I was told that it would be approximately one-hour waiting time for a table. This place had the look and feel of a place well worth waiting for, so the others in my party decided to browse a few of the boutiques in the area and I sat out front. The actual wait time was less than twenty minutes but we were not in a rush anyway. Perfect food and great service. The overall experience at Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen was excellent.

Changing One’s Mindset…. Or at least making a very credible attempt!Yes Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen is an upscale Mexican eatery (huh…Mexican…Upscale…that’s a total oxymoron) and yes the prices are up there (well for Mexican Food,) but I think that is because society has been conditioned to pay so little for Mexican Food. Chef Gabby’s food is inspiring providing creative interpretations to ingredients used throughout the country of Mexico.Just come here…experience the great ambiance (whether inside or out,) the great service, and the great food. The wait to be seated can be horrendous at times, but well worth it. I recommend making reservations here just to greatly reduce your wait. It’s popular for good reason. Some people will complain about the price…but that’s because they simply do not know!

Love this place, mainly for the delicious drinks and ambiance. The food was good but not great. Def a nice place to go for a date. Real intimate spot, actually do like this place more than Javier’s from comparison. The arrachero steak was good but lacked a little salt, but nothing a pinch couldn’t fix. Chips and salsa are right on. Service was a little slow but not terrible. Pisco sour and the guava margarita were amazing. Super tasty and strong. Price point isn’t too bad, you pay for the environment. You can get better Mexican food in Santa Ana but you prob won’t close.

Attitude City. My party of 6 arrived at Gabbis at 530 in the pouring rain. We asked the hostess (a young 18-20 something with no people skills) how long the wait would be and she told us that she was not sure how long as the reservation system was not functioning. I noticed that there was about 8-10 open tables and was suprised they were just left open. I asked if we could put our name down on a wait list and she said no. She said there were other people waiting in the bar. I asked how this would work if she had no wait list how would she call us, and how would she know who was there first etc. She had no response. I was shocked that there was no hard copy of the reservation list in case this type of crash happened. Her attitude was very rude, not apologetic, and was frankly that of a young person who has no personal interest in the place she works at and does not care if she upsets customers. She instead left us to huddle inbetween tables on the covered patio as it poured outside. The bar was too crowded to wait inside as the hostess informed me many of those people were waiting for a table once the reservation system opens back up. When I returned 15 minutes later I was told that it was going to be a 1.5 hour wait. I asked how this was possible seeing as most of the restaurant was empty. She just stated those tables were empty and told us we could wait. I then watched as a family of 4 walked in and was seated right away. The food at Gabbis is good, but it is not worth subjecting yourself to this type of rude,I can do whatever I want Im the hostess type of attitude. I should note that the food although good is rather pricy. I myself dont mind paying a higher price for fine food but I want a thoughtful staff with service that tells me they care about the customer and not just making money off of you.
