Very tasty fish tacos! Chicken and beef tacos weren’t anything special. Very clean and fun atmosphere. Reasonably priced too! My husband and I would definitely come back next time we’re in town.
This place is a small very casual beach taco shop with large portions and excellent food. It has old surfboards on the walls and plays surf videos on TV’s. You order when you enter and seat yourself Inside or out on side walk. They have a large variety of Mexican food and make it fresh while you wait. I have liked everything I’ve ever had here. The bathroom is one gross single stall. youtube.com
Great food.. The food was good and worth every penny. The carne asada burrito was awesome. Not the cleanest place but food is good. My only complaint was that when I was there, the was a belligerent junkie there cussing at patrons in line and staff didn’t seem to care. Paying customer or not, he had no business in the in his state of mind. Go for the food then hit the beach, definitely worth visiting.
The carne Assada burito and taco were excellent!! Don’t be fooled by the price, the portions are generous while being inexpensive. The ceviche was soooo good. I’m amazed at the quality and portions for the cost; sure it was served on styrophome but if they served this at another location on glassware it would be $15-20 a plate. I highly recommend this place 🙂
THE BEST machaca burrito!!
Best overall Taco Shop in SD. In the mid-90s I ate at Taco Surf every day at least once, and often twice. EVERY day for eight months (except for Thanksgiving weekend when I was out of town)! And more often then not, I ordered the Veggie Burrito, and doused it in the local hot sauce. Oh, and rolled tacos with the works.I’ve since left San Diego for Boulder, but when I visit SD, Taco Surf is my first and last stop of my trip. The quality hasn’t suffered in my absence. Now maybe I prefer the carne asada burrito at Sara’s at the roller coaster in Mission Beach (is it still there?) and fish tacos at South Beach in Ocean Beach. In both cases by only narrow margins. However, across the spectrum of the menu, Taco Surf reins supreme in San Diego, and it’s not even close. Sam and Fam have it all figured out!
The food is delicious in the ‘hole in the wall’ taco shop. I got two grilled fish tacos, snapper and mahi, and they were both stuffed to the brim and super tasty. The ocean is only a couple of blocks away and this little friendly joint is worth a second visit for sure.
