We usually go to Normas for lunch because we like the food there. This is the first time we tried Mister Parkers. $95 for a three course Christmas dinner is not a bad price I thought but as you will find out, we did not get the value. I felt totally rushed through. The server took our order before I had made up my mind. I came for the filet of beef, but the duck brest looked interesting and lobster with halibut also caught my eyes. She recommended the halibut. We were served a small starter consisted of raw scallops and a cute little 1 quiche. The first course I chose was Christmas salad with baby fennel, roasted beets, blood orange slices and pomagranade seeds. I expected the leaves to be microgreen size but they were not. The salad was refreshing enough. The second course was halibut with lobster. An appetizer-sized block of halibut was 1.25 x 2 x 1.5. On the other side of the dish were 3 small lobster garnish pieces from legs and claws. The halibut was hard and dried up like rock. Ive never had such an over-cooked piece of fish! My partner did not tough his halibut, I tried a couple of small bites but couldnt finish mine either. Just as well that it was small what a waste of effort the chef must have taken the night off! Four sides dishes came with the fish: risotto, mashed parnsnip(?), asparagus, and lentils. I enjoyed those.I chose olive oil fig cake for dessert. The figs were dried and not reconstituted in champaign, so quite chewy, almost like sun dried tomatoes. I liked the texture of the cake. A bunch of deep fried coconuts looked like desert dried shrub and tasted interesting: miniature sweet fries. I also enjoyed the flavour of the lemon curd. I think this is the last time we will dine at Mister Parkers. The service was institutional cheery and cafeteria like. The food not impressive. We are not big eaters, we dislike large portions and find regular portions hard to finish. But if a restaurant must serve fine dinig size, then it must execute well. None of the items left me wishing there was more. This was poor execution and therefore poor value, actually ridiculous. There are many more exciting hotel dining rooms in Palm Springs.
