Great sides, Disappointing Entres. Maybe it was because we were a large party of 8 but the main attractions at Flemings fell short. I requested a half order of crab legs (at considerable market price) and received 3 legs with meat that was dried up, tough, and lukewarm. I didn’t finish them. However, the side dishes were plentiful and good enough for a dinner in their own right. We ordered the spinach, crab cakes, string potatoes and onion rings, and baked brie. The spinach was good, not great, but fine. The crab cakes were good and slightly on the creamy not-quite-cooked side. Baked brie very good as were the potatoes and onion (although how can you go wrong deep frying something). The restaurant is definitely suited more for red meat eaters. There is only one chicken dish on the menu, and a couple of fish selections (the ubiquitous salmon and crab/lobster). Meat eaters received healthy portions. Desserts were good nicely presented. Good selection of wine by the glass.

Walnut Creek Location. Now, we frequent Flemmings quite regularly and we normally get good service. It can be ‘iffy’ depending on who you get to wait your table. BUT, the food, especially the appetizers, is excellent. I have to admit that I don’t normally get the steaks (too rich for me) but the lobster tempura and chile calamari is to die for. The Flemmings salad is also excellent.

What happened?walnut creek location. Im not sure exactly what happened that Saturday night. From the looks of everything, this should have been a fabulous dinner. The dcor of the restaurant is very nice. Soft light, muted colors, dark wood where it was necessary, and booths that really help you to feel somewhat secluded from the rest of the place. The staff was excellent, very attentive but not obtrusive. The manager even came over to check on us, but when the food started coming, things went south fast. I need to back up here and say that the cocktails were not very well done either. Both my wifes and mine were sorely lacking, and one of our dining companions martini was so bad, he sent it back! The wine list could use a little work. Usual suspects for red wine, but the only white represented was chardonnay. The first course, the Sea Food Tower was presented beautifully, but not as fresh as I would have liked or expected. Next came the salads. My wife and I decided to split the Iceberg wedge, and they were very accommodating, but the salad was swimming in dressing, which made it unappealing. Now, Ive been to many steakhouses and Im a Mortons V.I.P. member, so Ive had a few steaks in my time, and the reason why I never darken Ruth Chris door is because I no not like the butter-on-steak thing. I dont think it necessary. So our steaks come, and they all have that dollop of butter on top. First thing we ALL do, is remove the butter then cut into our steaks. I have never had such a gristly piece of meat. Although under seasoned for my taste, (note to the kitchen, just add salt!) it was cooked fine, but how that piece of meat got by the buyer, the chef and/or the expediter, is beyond me. As for the sides, they were passable, if not too interesting. Again they all needed salt. Based on our immediate experience, we all decided to skip dessert. Although the people were fantastic, and the place looked great, I go to a restaurant to eat the food, and thats what was lacking.

Great Steak. We’ve eaten at Felming’s several times and each time the food has been excellent. The steak is fantastic, the side-dishes are simple. Thumbs up.
