Localised Taiwanese-Chinese, but still tasty. The fish fillet Szechuan spicy sauce had tomatoes instead of the spice, but was still good. The ma po tofu was sizzling hot (temperature). The Chinese tea is good quality, though they will charge $2 a head for it. We had the Taiwanese stir fried noodles, though the HK pan fried noodles are also nice. We heard their steamed BBQ pork buns are good, though we didn’t order them. The dim sums, too, are good. Try the thousand layer cake if you are in the mood for some desert.
The food was good, it was a little exotic for my tastes but it was an enlightening experience to say the least. We are alfresco, which is nice in downtown Palo alto, you’ll never be short on people watching. The place had a minimalistic/naturalist feel that I enjoyed. In fact, it was that which drew me in. However I wasn’t crazy about it, I almost immediatly decided I wouldn’t frequent this place. I don’t know what it was exactly, but it did have to do with the price. It was too expensive to be just okay. As well as the service not being incredible. There weren’t any people in the resturant, however it took too long to bring the food out. That’s why I’m only giving Steam a 3 out of five. I was left kind of luke-warm.

Good lunch! Braised beef and noodles yummy. Good string beans spring till and dim sum. Will be back.
