  The food was a vast improvement over our last trip to Garwoods. The lobster bisque was tasty, the salads were fresh. The Prime Rib was very very good, cooked and spiced to perfection. It will take some time to get used to the pretzel like breadsticks with their bowl of butter but we are trying. What’s wrong with dinner rolls? With the astronomical cost of the entrees (yes as full time Lake Tahoe residents we understand the Tahoe tax but for that price of the food should be perfect every time) it seems as though bread could be affordable. Speaking of affordable don’t bother with the 4 Coconut prawns ($18) they should call them coconut shrimp. Garwoods is very very loud. The rooms are large and open and the sound echoes from the rafters. The atmosphere seems almost partylike (the reviewer that mentioned Chucky cheese and a 13-year-olds birthday party seems correct). There seems to be a television everywhere you look unless you look at the lake and that view is spectacular. Our server was spectacular and all in all we had a great dinner.

  March 18, 2014. Dinner. 1-10 scale. Food-5. Presentation-7. Ambience/view-7. Cultural impact-3. Service-7. Cleanliness-10. Is it worth the money-5. Crab cake was very good. Chicken sandwich was atrocious. French fry was ok. Salad was ok. It seemed as though no one was tending to us for the length of the dinner.

  Scary place. I witnessed the manager/owner pick up a guest by the lapels over some dispute! I’ll stick to the bar.
