Seated immediately, as we had a reservation. Glad we did, since the place filled up quickly after 6 PM. We were promptly greeted by our server, who, when asked, told us just about any menu item could be made vegetarian. This is a plus for us. My wife had the beet salad, which we both liked very much. I had the foie gras, which I may not have again. This was my first foie experience, and maybe it’s just not a flavor I’d like to have over and over again. But it was good nonetheless. Our mains were roasted tomato agnolotti and the braised short rib. The pasta was very good, and made fresh to order it seemed. The short rib was excellent, and I will certainly order it again. All four dishes were beautifully plated. For drinks, I had the Blackberry Sour by Black Market Brewing, and the ACME Pale Ale by North Coast. My wife had Hawks signature non-alcoholic Sour Cherry Lime Fizz. I’m a beer guy, and this mocktail was amazing. I almost wish I’d ordered one for myself. Areas for improvement are: 1) increase portion size by just a little bit. We felt the entrees were a bit on the small side for the price, and 2) expand the beer list, which was just shy of abysmal. Overall, we’ll be back again. High quality food in a high quality atmosphere.
Hawks is naked!!!. Underwhelmed! We have stopped in to enjoy cocktails and sustenance at Hawks a few times with only lovely experiences to recount. Christmas 2012…our daughters 18th birthday falls on the 27th, so with a little experience and reviews on high, we made reservations for 8 for the much touted Fried Chicken Sunday Supper on the 30th to celebrate…After the holiday regalia of tasting just about everything delectable….fried chicken sounds comforting. Perfect. My beautiful Irish family…to say we love our food is being coy. We are languid with the slow food movement and bask in all its glory…We Love Our Food And Drink For Hours. We loved the atmosphere…the volume in a place is never bothersome to my crew, in fact it adds to the comradery. Our service was lovely as well, personable and attentive. The food, I’m afraid is where I’ll break it down, it broke me down and I’m so disappointed. A prix fixe menu is or should be easy to deliver upon. It’s a chef’s choice to select and perfect the flavors to gift upon an excited awaiting guest. We’ll arrive…keep our mouthwatering to a minimum and wait for the culinary journey to begin. Amuse Bouche of butternut…lame, caesar salad…okay, wild mushroom soup…good, fried chicken, pommes pure…flavourless, tomato braised kale…frightening, awful, bitter, and unbalanced, pear tarte…unripe, caramel gelato…okay. An unrewarding chef’s journey of such lackluster proportion…under seasoned and ill prepared. Our family…lovely, our family…expectant, our family…still hoping, our family…paid $550.00, our family…2/8 ill on the drive home, our family…can’t possibly be the only ones to see that the restaurant emperor of Granite Bay has no clothes. I guess we will try again to celebrate our daughters birthday next week at another lovely place where our palates aren’t pillaged at such a pompous price.
Check out Hawk’s Bar. Okay, may sound crazy but I prefer Hawk’s bar area to their restaurant. It has a cozy feel to it like you are sitting in somebody’s library. The bar has some unique wine selections such as Archery Summit Pinot from Oregon. They also make a mean burger! Try it out. Just leave me two seats 🙂
Gem of a restaurant. Always a good meal- upscale fine dining and setting. Their menu features locally grown food from the area and changes according to season. Highly recommend Hawks for celebrating special occasions. When it is nice outside, sit on the patio. We think it is a good idea to support our local, non-chain area restaurants so we visit them often.
Very good even though I am a celebrity they still served me the same as others and I enjoyed that usually it’s just like V.I.P. Treatment! Anyways I loved it!
Slow service, poor food. I can not believe all the positive reviews on this place.. we went for sunday brunch.. and the service was VERY SLOW and the food was not good, and very small portions for the high price. Beautiful interior and setting but will not return.
Very Romantic. We really enjoyed this place. I espically loved the Viognier by Copain. It is also a cool place to sit and have some wine out on their patio in the summer. Also close the lake for a late night walk.
