I had been told that the food was mediocre, but was pleasantly surprised! One of my best meals in Tahoe. The Maine scallops were melt-in-your-mouth cooked to perfection. Don’t forget about the hula pie for dessert. And the scenery wasn’t bad…
Gazpacho is the best I’ve ever had. Wonderful outdoor deck dining. Great friendly staff!
Good food and a great view. My wife and I have eaten at Sunnyside’s sister restaurants in Hawaii (Leilani’s, Hula Grill, Kimo’s, Duke’s, and Keoki’s Paradise) multiple times and looked forward to a chance to try Sunnyside on our recent trip to Lake Tahoe. When we arrived at Sunnyside we found limited parking in front of the restaurant, but additional parking south of the restaurant and across the street. The restaurant has a large outside deck, but we were seated at a table that was technically inside, but was right next to an open window so it was as good as being outdoors. It was a very pleasant setting. We started with the Sunnyside Crispy Zucchini Sticks, which were listed as being a tradition since 1965. They were the typical batter covered zucchini sticks just okay, not great. The rest of the meal was very good however. My wife had the salmon, which was served over gnocci and mushrooms with a lemon cream sauce. I had the special for the night, halibut. We finished our dinner with their famous Hula Pie, which was just as good as what we’ve had in Hawaii. If you’ve never had it, it includes chocolate cookie pie crust, macadamia nut ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped mac nuts and is a huge slice more the size of a piece of layer cake than a piece of pie. We enjoyed our dinner at Sunnyside and will keep this on our list of places to visit when we return to Lake Tahoe.
GORGEOUS view from outdoor patio setting. Food was disappointing… Not terrible, just not memorable. Service was so-so.
The view is stunning.. The food is decent.
Love this restaurant! Save up for the Hula Pie! A must try! Creamy ice cream pie with a cookie crust and hot fudge. The fish tacos are my favorite. Tried this restaurant for the first time last October. Came back this year!
