A FORGOTTEN CLASSIC. Growing up in pleasanton this eriks deli location has been a staple in my life for many years. now that i have grown and don’t live as close anymore i usually frequent the san ramon location. after a visit for lunch yesterday i think i’ll stick to my san ramon eriks!so i stopped in with my list of 3 sandwiches for a to go order for myself and my parents. there were about 5 couples and families having lunch so it seemed like a popular day for the time. as i approached the counter i was surprised to see two latino men one taking orders and the other making the sandwiches. now this was weird to me as in all my years at eriks delis i have only seen men or women in their elder years. as i proceed to order i told him what i needed and he listened but i told him he that he might want to write it down due to the many substitutions and add-ons. from there the ordering went smooth i got the r.e.o speedwagon on the sweet molasses bread, avocado and extra goo, eriks reuben for my dad and the natural high with chicken and minus sunflower seeds and tomato for my mom. i had a $4 off coupon so that was nice to save me some cash. both men discussed what had been ordered and i was given 3 different amounts and in the end the amount was just under $16. with each sandwich around $5.50 and with the add-ons it sounded darn good to me.i took a seat while i waited for the sandwiches and as i looked around i thought to myself how cute and old fashioned the place is but also could be a death trap! hanging right above my seat dangling from a hook were 3 cast iron tools. the fork kinda got me thinking not to sit in that seat because you never know. this was a large pitch fork and could do some damage. i began to look around for other things of that nature and i see a very large plow thing. if the big one hits someone may just be getting eriks sandwiches for life if they don’t lose their head. and above the register nailed to the wall securely i hope was a frigging large metal saw blade. i’m so out of here!well i got home with the sandwiches and they were all really good and everything was fresh and generous. both of my parents really liked their sandwiches alot. the only issue was that 2 of the 3 were heated sandwiches but a quick toss into the microwave cleared things up. this is still a good eriks spot but san ramon is always outstanding and closer to where i live. the specials that eriks has from time to time are soo darn good, love the lasagna but please bring back the chicken casserole and the meatloaf sandwich.if your in the area and want to try this place out just take my advice and keep your heads up or you might just lose it! lol

Great healthy options. Great deli with many healthy and natural selections. There soups are fresh as are all of their ingredients. My favourite ‘sandwich with character’ is the Natural High. It is warm, and has a lot of veggies, cheese, sprouts and tomatoes and avocado. There are also sunflower seeds that give it a nutty kick – wonderful!
