One of the best tasting South Indian restaurants in the area. We were a group of 12 and were there for lunch on Jan 1st. The wait was long but the staff was polite and catered to us politely. The Madras Thali, butter dosa, vada sambar was authentic & tasted yumm, The Hyderabad thali was nothing different from the Madras Thali with the same items except that it was a bit more spicy.Definitely a place to visit often especially when you miss home food! Mango Lassi tasted very good too!
We had idly dipped in sambar and Mysore masala dosa. Both were good but I didn’t expect Mysore masala dosa to be same as a masala dosa. I usually love the red colour and taste of masala of a typical Mysore masala dosa which was missing here. The sambar was superb.
Visited again last week to try out the non-thali items on the menu and I’m glad I did.We started with MEDU VADAS which were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. I would’ve liked them even better if they were served piping hot.We also ordered for BABYCORN MANCHURIAN from their daily specials which I loved. I’m definitely going to be having this whenever available every time I go there. The TOMATO ONION UTTAPAM was a bit of a disappointment though. It lacked salt and the necessary flavors. Can be skipped. My husband got the MYSORE MASALA DOSA which was quite nice and crisp. The Coconut Chutney was superb and had a smooth consistency. But the highlight of the meal was the FILTER COFFEE. Strong and full of character. The only thing it lacked was some froth . But I enjoyed it nevertheless.- I was in the vicinity a few days back and had been having South Indian food cravings for a while, so Sri Venkatesh Bhavan turned out to be my obvious choice. It is a nice, spacious restaurant and the service is quick.I ordered the MADRAS THALI and it turned out to be pretty decent and the quantity was huge. I’ve had better composed thalis in the past though. But looking at the Dosas being served around, I wished I’d ordered for them instead since the thali was nothing out of the ordinary.I’m definitely going back to try out other dishes from the menu.A value for money restaurant on the whole!
Best of south india you’d fine in a million places. Typical family style ambience , simple no frills . You feel in india when you walk in. Rava dosa is absolutely delicious so crisp yet not a trace of oil. We got idli, rava dosa and Mysore dosa Dint like the mysore dosa much but other items were great. Good service. Must go here and try the rava dosa
We walked in at noon on a Friday afternoon, and found the place fairly empty. Ignoring the specials board in our hunger, we browsed through the (quite large) menu. We finally settled on a mysore masala dosa and a tiffin thali. The mysore masala dosa was not quite high up there on the crispiness index and the potato filling was quite tasteless. The chutney and sambar were similarly unfulfillling. Ok but not in the realm of delicious. The tiffin thali included a mini version of the masala dosa which I recommend eating first in order to salvage what little crispiness exists. The idli in sambar was piping hot and quite good. A 7/10 I’d say. The vada although cold was crispy and tasty. Definitely an 8/10. The pongal was mediocre, missing the sweetness of the rice and ghee and the fire of the black pepper. The upma was. … not worth talking about. The ‘sweet of the day’ which was part of the thali, was kheer. That had turned lukewarm and developed a milky skin on top. Although it tasted ok I didn’t want to ruin the good part of the meal.Note that the tiffin thali is too much for one person at one sitting if you aren’t one with a large appetite. On the plus side, service is super fast and they don’t mind if you cancel your coffee order since you’re too full.Worth a visit if you’re having a sudden dosa craving. But if you’re either South Indian or used to delicious food from those parts, you’ll leave full but not quite satisfied.
