Tres bien, not perfect. I went last night with my husband’s family–5 adults and 2 children. The pate, salads and onion soup were excellent! The boneless short ribs were a big hit, and I’d definitely try that my next time there. I had the tenderloin filet, which I ordered medium, but came well done. It was still delicious, moist and tender. Our service was fine, and we had all the correct utensils. 🙂
Over-priced, mediocre service. Ambiance not the best, carpet and furnishings are worn. Food is okay but not good enough to overcome my disappointment and draw me back.
Disappointing experience…. My wife and I have been going to the French Market Grille for years. Everytime we go for lunch or dinner we are greated by new faces with the exception of one older gentleman of which we aren’t particularly fond of. Our last experience was a Wednesday night dinner that shed new light on our question of why there were always so many new faces working at this establishment. The place was busy and there was a private party on their covered patio. We were seated at the very first table in the dining room which we weren’t thrilled about but decided the table was fine. It took almost an hour for us to get our food which wasn’t as good as our past experiences. It was clear to us that the place was understaffed. The poor chef was by himself and had to cater to a full restaurant. The servers were frantically running around working as hard as they could while being ridiculed by the owner, Patrick. My wife and I were apalled by the way he was speaking to his staff. We will not be returning to this establishment anytime soon.
Good food, but a little overpriced. The service was a little slow, but not that bad.
So French – right down to the snooty service!. Delicious food, service actually OK, but attitude terrible! We went there on a Saturday night and they were crowded, but still! They apparently are trying to live up to the French reputation of arrogance plus incompetence. We stood in front of the host, ignored, for a good five minutes before being greeted. The waiter made a travesty of the wine ceremony, simply splashing a taste into hubby’s glass and then leaving. He told us our entree would take 45 minutes to prepare (it was actually 20 minutes tops). Bread and butter were served, but the tables were set with only a fork and spoon, no knife; we wound up buttering our bread with a spoon. The food was good (lobster bisque, sweetbread appetizer, crepes suzette, chocolate mousse) and we wound up with a month’s worth of funny waiter stories!
Not to my expectation….. …..which is bad because I live walking distance from the place. the last time was couple years ago and I did not want to take another chance. The cook leaves very early on Sunday night and we had to rush our orders. Different dishes came with the same sauce which was not on the menu. It was a gift to my friends that night and I did not feel like it. We never went back again since then… too bad, it’s so near by!
