Drive 100 Miles If You Have To. How to experience Jack’s. Opens at 4:00 pm. Starts serving at 5:00 pm. Get there at 5:00 or later. Gives you a chance to sit at the bar and enjoy a couple of cocktails. You’ll have to, as by 5 pm it’s usually standing room only as people wait for a table or a spot at the bar. Go with friends. Enjoy the hour at the bar to sip your drinks and mellow out. Chat with Mike. If you don’t know who Mike is, you need to go more often. Bring your best voice, as it gets louder as it fills up. Enjoy the ambiance. Your table/booth is finally ready. Order the large fillet (no more than medium) and the jumbo prawns. Split with your significant other. Order the bleu cheese dressing for the salad. Order an extra bowl of saltines, as you’ll rip through them like nobody’s business with your salad. If you don’t eat at least two helpings of the salad, well… Order that third cocktail to go with your dinner, which has just arrived. TIME FOR OMG GOODNESS!!
Average. Got there early since no reservations. Waited at the bar, then got a seat by the kitchen doors. Our soup came, then after one spoonful, we got our salads. After one bite, our steaks came. No matter how good the dinner is, if you’re being rushed, it’s a bummer. Service was once a blessing. Here, it’s just a memory. I’ll get my steak elsewhere.
Small Fillet Mignon, Blue Cheese dressing & fries YES!. This steak will melt in your mouth and the salad looks funky but is so tasty and good. fries are real fresh potatoes, not frozen. worth the wait if you think otherwise.
Jack’s is a classic dive with amazing steaks–well worth the wait!
I grew up in Redding and have always wanted to come to Jack’s. Finally did and it was worth the wait. Just good steaks and far from pretentious.
Over hyped. Skip it. Service is rediculously slow. You could go to dinner and a movie in the time before you get your dinner here.
Service absolutely sucks. Never coming back.
