Worst experience I’ve had in a while. The service was so bad that me and my wife are finishing our dinner at chevy’s. We sat for 20 minutes without so much as someone taking our drink order. If you appreciate good service, find somewhere else to go.
Not impressed – OVERCOOKED. First off, the salad was two tablespoons of lettuce with a WAY over soy sauced salad dressing. The soup, which I was sure would be Miso, was chicken broth with a few mushrooms, some of what my husband thought were overcooked onions and red bell peppers. I think he was at least partially right. When is Miso hard in a Japanese restaurant??Our Teppan chef was not on his game tonight and barely spoke to us. I watched in horror as he seemed to overcook EVERYTHING – beginning with the egg for the fried rice. It came off the flat top BROWN. Eggs in fried rice are not BROWN. Obviously, I was not surprised when my chicken and shrimp dish was WAY overcooked, under seasoned and basically inedible. By some modern miracle, my husband’s scallops were edible – underseasoned but edible. On the plus side, when I spoke to the servers and then the manager, they did refund my dinner, but it was my 50th birthday and after all the positive reviews I’ve seen here, I expected so much more. I won’t be back.Happy UN birthday to me.
Great Family Restaurant. If you like Benihana’s then prepare to love Susumu Japanese Steakhouse. While they offer a similar menu and the same Hibachi style dining that makes Benihana’s so popular, what Benihana’s has popularized, Susumu has perfected. Led by Iron Chef Susumu, the chef’s at Susumu give it a personalized touch that on the whole makes the experience far warmer (not to mention more entertaining) than anything I’ve experienced at Benihana’s. As for the food, the plates come in around 10 dollars cheaper, the food is of a higher quality and there are a few menu twists well worth experiencing (may I suggest the beef florentine?). Have I mentioned that Chef Susumu already oversees one of the better (and more affordable) full sushi bars in Roseville? If you’re a fan of sushi and hibachi-style dining, don’t miss out on Susumu’s.
