Best Stinky Tofu in Socal. Pull into the parking and follow your nose. that is exactly what i did a couple weekends ago when i stopped by for a quickie. stinky tofu king is tucked away in the back of the shopping centr…and probably for good reason….they cook up some stank ass stuff. but this stank ass stuff is deeeeelicious! stinky tofu king reminds me of the alley way mom and pop shops that dot the map in taiwan. not only was the proprietor rocking shorts and a thin white tshirt, he consistently picked at his teeth. the place elicited fond memories of my time spent in the motherland. the seating is literally 14’x10′ and consisted of perhaps 4 tables. very OG. once you get past the smell of soggy, sweat drenched socks filled with toe jam that have basked in the sun for 3 days…..you will delight yourself with a mouth party. oh yeah!!! we ordered up some stinky tofu, cold cucumbers and a dumpling dish. the cucumbers came out quickly and was nice and cool……which was quite refreshing given the warn temperature on the eastside. next up was the stinky tofu. an order consists of three large deep fried chucks of stink tofu cut into four triangles. this made for easy sharing thus my huns and i did not have to beat each other up to grub down. was this the best stinky tofu i’ve had? nope…..was it good? sure was! then again, beggars can’t be choosers. i can say with a straight face that stink tofu king produces the best stinky tofu that i have consumed in socal though. the bottomline is, no one on this side of the pacific can make stinky tofu as rank as the folks in the motherland. the dumplings was filled with ground pork and veggies and was immersed in a peanutty soup. not too shabby. the dumplings were cooked very well and the consistency and texture was very pleasing. all in all, the quickie was well worth the slight detour we made. come here for a quick snack or meal. the food comes out quickly and everything is fresh. i plan on going to come back to try out other items on their menu in the near future. p.s. they are cash only.
