  Little gem near Balboa. Great cafe a block from Laurel & 6th – Balboa Park entrance. Have visited Gourmet several times because the food is outstanding and the service is great and the prices are most reasonable. And it’s quiet. Incredible salads include Caesar Salad (no skimping on anchovies or Parmesan, best ever tasted), Greek Salad (wonderful fresh flavor) and as well as the tasty sandwiches Cali and Baby Back Rib (so very good and not greasy like a Philly Steak). Asked for extra additions chicken and avocado for the Greek Salad – no extra charge. Looking forward to trying their breakfast items because I will certainly be returning.

  Excellent value, French flavor. Found this gem while visiting Balboa park. It is an easy walk and, while it looks a bit plain from the exterior, it is quite pleasant inside. The surprise is how good the food is for such a little cafe. Everything prepared fresh with the best ingredients (like any good French cuisine). Focus is on simplicity, yet perfect preparation and flavour. The short rib sandwich is amazing. We returned several times while in San Diego to try many things and everything was excellent. Apparently there was a new manager recently and we found the service excellent.

  Great food but they need to work on their customer service I wouldn’t mind if they cleaned more often either the soap from the bathroom has been on the walls for weeks
