Old fashioned luxury and great food. We’ve been going to Imperial House regularly for decades. The food is great and the place exudes the kind of old-fashioned (but not overpriced) luxury that has all but vanished from San Diego. Attentive, almost fawning service from tuxedo’ed waiters and the maitre d’ (Felix, a 40-year institution himself). Deep comfortable booths, tables that feel very private. Many dishes are cooked or flambed tableside. Highlights include the fabulous mock turtle soup with sherry, the fresh warm bread with fresh-made pesto sauce for dipping, the steak Diane and the crepes Suzette. Try the scallops appetizer, coquille St. Jacques – plenty for two. Never crowded, always welcoming.
