Oh my goddddd I had been craving Indian food for months (I Dont know why I took so long lmao). And I had this place bookmarked and was just waiting for the right time. And it came. I was so excited on the way there haha. So my friend and I walk in and we realize its the lunch buffet. I didn’t even know omg. I was stoked. We get seated and I’m just taking it all in. I like the decor and music a lot. We get asked about drinks and naan. Garlic naan, of course. We serve ourselves and it was awesome. Okay, the things I loved the most were the tomato soup, vegetable korma curry thing (I’m so sorry for not knowing names, I’m really ashamed) the white rice and pea rice, the red chicken, the tofu curry, the fried cauliflower?, the rice pudding. My mother is DutchIndo, so curry and rice is important to me haha. My friend liked different things, she said the garbanzo beans were really good, and she liked the onion soup too. She ate a bunch of other things too but I forgot lol. Anyways, naan. I was in love. However!!! The bottoms were burnt and I was too shy to tell them so I literally just ate the tops. But honestly since i wanted to try everything i really overate. I didnt eat for like a day after, no joke.Anyways, yeah yeah service is slow. But relax. Try focusing on the food, bc you can tell a lot of work goes into it.

I love this place, and don’t personally know any of the employees.. Honestly, I can understand people complaining about slow service, however; I do believe they fail to understand what’s going on at the restaurant. I’ve been patronizing India Princess for years, and would consider it one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Ever. This being said, the slowness in service is often times because there are only 1 or 2 people serving the ENTIRE restaurant. If speed is an issue to you, then plan around that. You can get fast, not-so-great food at a lot of other restaurants. Don’t let your poor planning constitute a complaint for slow service; expect a wait for GOOD food. There are also complaints that the lunch buffet food isn’t spicy enough. I also enjoy spicy food, although I am aware that it is not for everyone. If we all are expected to share the food at the buffet, then no wonder it is not spicy. I can understand that people have had poor experiences with food (which is to be expected periodically in almost all restaurants), but I am consistently pleased with the dishes I get. I know people from India who have eaten here, and said that it is not authentic enough in their opinion, which is perfectly fine. Just because something is not comparable to a traditional serving of food, doesn’t make it bad. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for a decade of my life. I thoroughly enjoy the service provided by the people that work here, as well as the food they serve. I will be eating here as long as the restaurant is open.

No luck with the second chance:(. So after about a month I decided to try this place again. Before I was driving there I called first just to make sure what time they opened for the lunch buffet, and they had told me 11am. My hubby and I drive there and get there at about 11:05 am and we go inside the place and the place is empty and there is no food out. One of the servers told us that it was going to take them about another 30 min. to set up the buffet line. After this incident we decided that we were not going there again. WTF we even called right before we got there!!! So instead we went to go eat at San Sai (Japanese food) which is further down the street of San Marcos Blvd. Now that place is good;)So sorry India Princess, we will NEVER be coming here again, non tasty food + sucky service is a no no.23 Jan, 2010I will give it a second chance:(. I have heard so many great reviews about this place. I think they even won awards so I decided to try it out since I am a big fan of Indian food. I went and ordered :Chicken tika masala and chicken biryani(I ordered take out.)Sadly, it’s not what I expected:( I am not sure if it was because it was take out, or if it was late at night, but I just didnt like it. The chicken tasted funny, the chx tikka masala didn’t have that yummy tangy flavor or anything, it was so bland. I have had so much better. I have only been there once, but I will give it another chance because I hear it’s one of the best in San Diego. Wish me luck. And I will be back to review again, and hopefully this time is better:)

It’s hard to say which is worse, the lousy food or the lousy service. I was served chicken tika that was burnt charcole black and as dry as shoe leather–and then no apology! We will never go back.
