Had sushi and a bento box. Food was decent. Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. Biggest issue was the service. We waited forever for someone to help us. The wait for the bill alone was 20-30min. So, meh restaurant overall.

Group night at Katsu Sushi. What’s The bUZZ on Katsu Sushi?Katsu couldn’t have happened soon enough! After our poor customer service over at Las Olas, Katsu was a complete 180; absolutely heavenly. Unlike some other venues, Katsu worked with me from the very beginning of the planning process, and I must tell you they made it easy on me. Separate checks were of no bother to them and our large group was indeed felt welcomed even though their restaurant filled every table. I can not let it slide that like Las Olas, our server, Kevin, had five or six other tables. Unlike Las Olas, our server did an amazing job keeping tabs on us and never kept us waiting on anything. I glanced around at his other tables throughout the night and it didn’t seem that they felt neglected at all. Sushi equals Asahi, Sappora, Kirin, and Sake. Yes, we did indeed enjoy it all! Some of us ordered from Katsu’s slim wine list, but that is expected at a Japanese restaurant. Our early appetizers included edamame, sea weed salad, and miso soup. My absolute favorite and great surprise was the spicy garlic edamame. WARNING: When I say spicy, I mean it. It burned and oh boy, did I love it! I like that kind of thing. What can I say? Katsu made a dish that is served in every single sushi restaurant and made it unique, yet delicious. I was pleased.I didn’t think it could get better. That was until I saw the 40% off sushi menu. Delicious rolls for a discount?! Who wouldn’t be happy after seeing that? Needless to say, I didn’t venture off that list. I had to see if a bargain meant a bargain price. I ordered the sea weed salad (on the list), Vampire roll (on the list), Crunch roll (on the list), and the Love Love roll (on the list). I shared. Jeez! ;)The chef didn’t venture far from the normal sea weed salad recipe. That was fine with me since it was the item I was most craving. The Vampire roll was divine: a spicy tuna roll with seared white tuna on top and a spicy sauce dabbed on each piece. Again with the spice, but the roll itself had so much flavor. It wasn’t just the chilies that can drown most other spices. The Crunch roll was ordered by a few of us and enjoyed by everyone. Not spicy at all, but still flavorful and the outer crunch flakes were a great touch. The Love Love roll was outrageous and just a little too much. That was my fault. 2 rolls should have been my max. I swear it’s the price that kept me ordering. Anyways, The Love Love is a rice-free roll. Instead of the rice, it is the crab meat that is used in California rolls. It was good too and all of the fish was fresh, but after everything else, I was fished out. Our entire group was great about sharing so we could all try most of everything. The one thing I didn’t get to try was the Stuffed Tomato; rice topped with scallops and wrapped with tuna. There is also the stuffed orange; rice topped with scallops and wrapped in salmon. I was told that it is offered at every sushi restaurant, but for some reason it doesn’t ring any bells for me, but I MUST try it next time..wherever I go.
