Babita – the best creative Mexican food around. Just dined at Babita’s for the first time in many years, and it remains perhaps the finest Mexican restaurant in the LA area. We started with a bowl of their soup; actually two soups in the same bowl. This is a regular feature, and always outstanding. One of the soups was beet based, and the other was carrot based, but this is an entirely simplified description of a delicious dish. Several of us had as our entree the special stuffed chile. This was nothing like a chile relleno. The chile was stuffed with a ragout of pork an various fruits and nuts, and covered with a sauce made of goat cheese, creme, almonds, pecans, and walnuts. The cochnita pibil was also outstanding as usual. Service was very good; great recommendations and sufficiently attentive.
