I bought two fish tacos for to-go, but I could not resist to eat them right after I got to the patio. Yummy!! Freshly fried fish and toasted tortilla with salsa; it’s the reason the fish tacos tasted so good.The only drawback was Macho didn’t have a good variety of salsa.
Is this Chilie Verde?. So I passed by this place for lunch. It’s in a strip mall across from the Mission carwash. Small mom and pop place that’s been around since the 70s. That’s a long time. What to order? They have a wide range of menu and it all sounds tempting. Well, chilie verde is one of my favorite food and it’s on their house special list so thats what I had, along with an orchata.They cooked the carne differently here. They don’t stew it in the chilie verde like 99% of the other places that I’ve been to. They grilled the meat, chopped it up, and lather the chilie verde on top. It’s a variation on a theme and I can envision how this combination would taste. I would give it a solid B. I deducted some points for their liberal use of salt that almost over power the taste balance and lack of proper grilled meat taste. That’s surprising since I can see the grill marks on the meat. The rice was ok. The bean and cheese…. Hmm I can’t remember how it tasted. Not bad but not memorable either. Tonny’s in Pasadena is definitely better.
