After eating at the sister location on N Atlantic, i ventured over to this place. It is situated inside Ranch 99 Grocery Store and it takes over a huge floor space. I ordered the Wonton Noodle Soup with Shrimp Dumplings with Beef Meatball with Vegetables. The price is overly cheap and the food was decent.

Amazingly cheap dim sum!. Oh hell the frick yes! dim sum for $0.99… ****wilbur does backflips****much like shon l., i first heard about yum cha cafe on chowhound and the frugal chinese in me started jumping for joy at the mere thought of uber cheap dim sum. i was initially a bit hesitant to try the place out for fear of low quality eats. however, i finally sacked up and dropped by yum cha cafe after a round of golf in the SGV…..and boy and i glad that i did. why do you ask???because the dim sum was mighty fine tasting for being $0.99…ok…ok…some of the items i purchased was $1.39, but who’s counting? i purchased the following:- shrimp dumpling (har gow) – 4 pcs- turnip cake (luo buo gao) – 3 pcs- chicken sticky rice (luo mi gee) – 3 pcs- shrimp in rice wrapper (shia chan fen) – 3 pcs- all the above for under $5, uh-mazing!! and the above provided enough food for 2 meals. yay!!all the items were darn good for being so cheap. however, as a caveat, do not expect the refinement or polished food you’d encounter at sit down joints like empress harbour, 888, full house or mission 261 and you will be set. however, if you are a masochist and start comparing the quality and presentation of the yum cha cafe dim sum to any of the above restuarants, you will not be satisfied.iirc, the place is cash and carry. you can have them prep the food so that you can sit at one of the dozen or so tables around the food court or you can have the items packaged up to go…..i went with the latter. and when i got home 35mins later, i nuked the goodies and they still tasted pretty good.for those that speak no mandarin or cantonese, do not be alarmed as you can order via the following methods:1. point and smile2. mark the items you want on the menu and hand it to the ladies behind the countera caveat though…..be prepared to jostle with old ladies and gents. they have no qualms about cutting in front of you and jabbing you in the belly to get their cheap dim sum grubbin’ on. i threw some wicked punches, knocked a few of them out and quickly made my way to the front. haha. i kid…i kid.yum cha cafe is a good spot to get your dim sum on for cheap. and thats the straight dope gang
