Applebee’s is a popular grill and bar restaurant chain supposedly serving hearty American food in a relaxed backdrop.We visited the Applebee’s outlet at 555 Saratoga avenue, San Jose- for lunch. The ambiance is very relaxing (I think informal is the word for it), the cushion seating is very comfy and the interior decor is attractive with a lot of pin-up boards etcetera.We decided to order something to drink; one thing I noticed during my US trip is that most of the restaurants serve amazing Ice Tea and because of that if your not interested in alcohol or beverages, there was always the option of an Ice Tea- I chose to have the lemon Ice Tea.We skipped the appetizers and ordered entre-Shrimp ‘n Parmesan Sirloin- this was succulent grilled shrimp, white wine scampi sauce and rich Italian cheese on top of Applebee’s specialty 9 oz. Sirloin, served with seasonal vegetables and mashed potato (or baked potato)- the shrimps were a little small but flavorful, I guess the idea was to give small bites of Shrimp and focus on the Sirloin. The Sirloin was cooked beautifully and the cheese and sauce was lip-smacking good.After that we ordered this heavenly dessert, wow..Triple Chocolate Meltdown- this was dessert-orgasm.. soo soft, delicious, exquisite.. a moist chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.. Awesome!The service also was great. All in all the experience was good and I’d love to come another time and try more off their menu (with more foodies).. Applebee’s on Saratoga Ave. San Jose. My husband & I ordered the $5.99 lunch. We both had the onion soup which was about 3/4 full. He had the caesar salad & I had the oriental chicken salad. both salads were very skimpy & in a dish that we could hardly mix around.We only had water to drink. We finished & left & we were still hungry & felt like we had a skimpy appetizer!
