Pulled off in SLO on our way back from Monterey – 1st went by the higher rated Breakfast Buzz – for no reason other than it was empty on a Sunday AM – we trekked on to Del Monte…. WOW this place is perfect. MUST try the local-made Linguica sausage. Packed with locals, small, quaint place. Definitely recommend —- Service, good too.
Love this spot for breakfast. Great interior with vintage vibe- wainscoting, wooden booths, classic barstools, etc. Kid friendly- smiling pancake. We recently tried the southern Sunday dinner with my father-in-law from Mississippi- and he approved the fried catfish & okra. Love it!
Cross contamination is an issue- everything is cooked on one grill. Wouldn’t recommend for vegetarians or folks with food allergies
Really cool setting to eat at, has an old diner look inside what seems to be an old house. Nice patio to sit in too. Got pancakes, which were huge, and biscuits and gravy. They were both good but I wish I had gotten the juevos rancheros like my friend which was delicious. Cool place I’ll be back.
We visited for lunch and dinner and both meals were exceptional. The food was presented beautifully and everything was fresh. The Del Monte Cafe will be on my list for regular visits whenever I am in San Luis Obispo.
Too expensive for what you get. It’s an upscale diner, with upscale sounding diner food. Service – soso. Food – soso. Not worth the effort which is a shame, the setting is pretty historic and cool.
Not up to par. Ate lunch with friends there on Saturday.Had to send back 2 dirty utensils and a dirty plate.Problem with the dishwasher and the person checking out the utensils before putting them out??Food was plentiful but nothing spectacular. Salads could have been crispier. The seafood salad was a bit light on the seafood.
