Expensive for a sandwich but pretty dang delicious!
What’s the big deal?. Everyone raves about Gus’s sandwiches but I can make better at home and save $9-10 doing it. Noisy patio, stale bread. I don’t get it.
Fantastic!. I LOVE that all you have to do is fill out a checklist with every ingredient you want on your sandwich and they make it right up! Tons of great bread choices ( San Luis Sourdough sliced cracked wheat is my choice), lots of cheese (I recommend the garlic jack) and all the other stuff like oil and vinegar, avo, veggies, etc. AND they sell beer AND they have kettle chips AND they have a deck. Parking is only a problem if you let it be. Park a block behind in the residential neighborhood and don’t be daunted by a long line– it goes fast! Also, there is a park just 2 blocks down the street if the patio is too crowded.
I couldn’t find a place to park anywhere! Lost my business.
Quintessential San Luis. Sunny day, a few free hours, sandwiches and beer on Gus’s patio ~ and the world becomes a lovely place.
Can’t beat the patio. My kids are now taller than I am but we still make an effort to stop by Gus’s not only for the sandwiches (giant and with the freshest bread) but the homemade lemonade and the best patio. Iceberg lettuce and tons of mayo, it’s not health food. Just a big, tasty sandwich on a great patio and a space to be with friends.
