Looking for vegetarian food in SLO after 8.30pm on a Sunday night and Thai Classic came to the rescue. Really decent veggie menu with a ton of choices. Kind of basic ambiance but we were hungry and this really hit the spot. Ordered Pad See Ew with Mock Duck, hot and spicy soup with tofu and mixed veg with Thai Basil and spring rolls. All good and the place was packed. Must be a local haunt.
Mongian beef is one of the best things on the menu. I would say stay away from the chicken (and get beef or shrimp) because I have found it to be kind of rubbery. Food is cheap but service is weird because every dish doesn’t come out at the same time.
We went one night, because we couldn’t find anything else open. GREAT CURRY DISHES! We’ve been there twice now & haven’t been disappointed. First time I tried the Shrimp Chow mein (excellent!) & next time I tried the Mussamen Curry (excellent! probably spelled that wrong, but excellent!) You can order food at various levels of spiciness — Levels 1 through 5, with 5 being through-the-roof-HOT. My friend & I both ordered our food at Level 4 (at the recommendation of the waitress), but we noticed that mine was noticeably hotter, so this is obviously not an exact science (but fortunately I tolerate spicy food well). The wait staff is friendly & efficient & the prices are reasonable.
