Its That Good of A Joint. Don’t judge by the outside or location, it is a very good joint. Lunch here, and all the mexican you can think of including seafood is on the menu. Salsa was nice and chunky that went so well with the chips. Fajitas had plenty of veggies not overly spiced. The chili verde tender.

Quaint mexican joint – Likes. A small place off the road full of mexican joints. This one stood out. A really nice young waiter (who is a senior majoring in economics at Cal Poly!) who is super polite. Ordered seafood caldo (get it spicy!!), a steak burito (one is more than enough – it is about a full pound!), chicken fajitas and fish tacos. The caldo is superb – full of fish, octopus, shrimps and crab legs. Perfectly spiced and the broth is wonderful – pugent, sour, salty and sweet – unami at its best. The burito is massive – grilled cube steak, some wild rice and some beans – matched up nicely with the home-made salsa. The fish tacos were great as was the chicken. Not much choice for wines but a decent selection for beers. Dinner for three – less than 50 bucks. Great time.

Good Mexican Food. This place is not fancy, but the food is very good and the prices are great. Santa Maria has an overabundance of Mexican restaurants, but unfortunately most of them are not that good. El Pueblito is an exception. If you are looking for a classy place to take a date, then look elsewhere, because the decor is cheesy and not upscale at all. But again the food is good.
