Full house!!. Needed to try the famous tri tip, unfortunately we had to wait one!!!! hour for the food…there was a Party of 30 at one table I didn’t see when we entered(other room)The server was apologizing the hole time but they took only a coke of the bill, but had the nerve to ask if we would like dessert!!!!! the food was good though, but the good eater on a table beside us got his food before us , and he was 45 min after us in the restaurant…
Second trip in, had been looking forward to it and again was not disappointed at all. The bartender is super nice and makes the trip even better!09 Oct, 2013From Kansas City – the home of BBQ, unless you go to Shaw’s in Santa Maria, CA – the best I’ve ever had. You better be ready to eat (so much for your money) and be ready to be treated nice. Great Place! One of, if not the favorite place to eat!
Overrated!. Several people recommended Shaw’s so I decided to try it and ordered the ribeye steak. The steak was overcooked and tasted just ok. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere very comfortable. Overall, however, I have to say that the edge goes to Jocko’s which I would highly recommend.
Best in the area. I’ve eaten at all 3 of the talked about steakhouses in the area. Shaw’s is by far the best of the three. As good as the cowboy cut rib-eye is, my favorite item of the meal is the soup. I’ve eaten here on 4 separate occasions and the soup was something different each time and simply delicious.
Wood grilled excellence!. Shaw’s uses real wood to infuse a smoke flavor, and it TOTALLY came through in my steak. I haven’t been this impressed with a steak in years. Our dining experience was pre-rush, so there were only a few tables seated and being served. The service was prompt and helpful – but direct and to the point…….not overly friendly, but extremely professional. The atmosphere was a 1920’s theme – and you have to check out the ceiling fans. Food preparation was done behind a wall of glass, which was slightly entertaining if seated where you could watch.I had a top notch experience at Shaw’s, and the wood grilled flavor was out of this world. I wasn’t really all that jazzed with the relish tray, and the big bowl of butter with the basket of crackers also came across a tad odd. Other than that, it was TWO THUMBS UP!
Service was timely, but not exactly friendly. We split the center cut rib eye dinner and it was plenty for two people (we added and extra salad). Salad was overly wet and was the kind that comes pre-packaged (not impressive). Pickles on relish plate see homemade and are quite good. The rib eye was tasty, but might be too salty for some. The beans had too much onion for my taste. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was excellent.
Decent food. Really slow service for a wed night.
