Worth the drive from Los Angeles. From the owner of LA’s Toscana in Brentwood which has been open 30+ years comes SY Kitchen helmed by Lucca Crestanelli who is from Verona, Italy. Expect home cooked rustic food that is superb, all in a very relaxed and comfortable setting. facebook.com
Loud, But Delicious. We ate here on a Sunday over the Memorial Day Weekend. It was crowed even though we got there at 8:15 for dinner. Fortunately, we made reservations. The reservations didn’t do us much good, because we got a small table right next to the kitchen. The room was small and there was a large crowd at a table near us. The noise was deafening. The food, however, was very good. We split a artichoke. It was stuffed and grilled. Outstanding! For an entree we split orechetti with tomatoes and clams. This also was very good. Overall, we like the place even though our ears were ringing and on the verge of bleeding when we left the restaurant.
1st time visit, selected based on word of mouth recommendation. extensive wine list -although I am not much of wine enthusiast. organic chicken w/roasted potatoes were cooked to perfection. Recommend.Sliders were only 2 on serving but were amazing. Recommend.Aspargus soup of the day creamy, tasty and unique. Must like asparagus. Recommend.Local Farm Salad and Apple Arugula salad fresh, crisp, splendid! Recommend.Artichoke appetitizer was pictureseque and seasoned to perfection. Recommend.Customer service was superb! Waiter was so refreshing! Especially with 2 children at table and accomodating orders. Reservations a must. Ambiance, presentation of entrees very nice! A very nice gem tucked away in the magical Santa Ynez valley! Highly recommend!
Left hungry with $110.00 Bill!. Saw good reviews and drove 40mi to check it out. Huge disappointment!Salad slivered raw vegetables completely tasteless, even adding salt didn’t help, needed a good dressing! Raw fennel, raw artichoke and raw beans not a good combination! Price:$15. Pizza Cacio Cava dry and tasteless, melted white cheese on dry crust topped with very few! raw squash blossoms, couple raw asparagus and slivers of mushrooms, personal size Price:$20.00, husband had Spaghetti Mare, tasked ok, empty clam shells, shrimp more shells than meat, spaghetti undercooked! Dipping oil needed more flavoring ,maybe balsamic vinegar to add to taste! Service was only plus, very attentive, however didn’t ask if we liked food! Dessert was ok, unusual presentation but would not order again! Bar needs attention to details, but could be explained by only being 2nd day with liquor license, keep figs away from jalapeno peppers!!
