Santa Maria style barbecue, red oak grill gives everything that distinct central coast flavor. Steak is what to come for, big and cooked correct, sides are abundant. Nice local wine picks as well.

Amazing. Best steak I’ve ever had easily. Just passing through and the Hitching Post made this trip memorable. We had ribs for appetizers and they were really good. Waitresses where amazing. Also a big thanks to Phil who cooked the steaks. The next time I’m close to southern California I’m going to try and find my way back there. Appreciate the best meal I’ve ever had.

Absolutely one of the best meals ever! From the moment we walked in the door the staff was friendly and attentive. We got our table and our drinks quickly. The appetizers were sized just right. And then our meals came and our table got VERY quiet. We had the ribeye, ribs, and filet Mignon and it was all fantastic! Wish it wasn’t so far from home, but we are seriously talking about making the 4.5 hour drive back just for The Hitching Post in the near future!!Two nights later we went to Jockos for comparison. It may be cheaper, but the crazy wait times, old decor, and loud atmosphere do not make it worth it. The food was good, but we were there from 7pm-9:45pm WITH a reservation!
