The first of my reviews on my US trip . Had lunch with family on a friends recommendation. Ordered chicken 65 , nethili fry , mutton biriyani, aapam , iddiyapam , chicken Chettinad and mutton roast . The aapam, idiyappam , mutton roast and chicken curry was great . The chicken 65 was good . The biriyani is below average and not worth the try , nethili fry was without salt and tasted like frozen for several days and we had to return it . Go here for the aapams and curries

As a first time visitor I was pretty impressed. The place is not too big but on a weekday you can get seated with no waiting time. Service was prompt. Our server was also very helpful in giving us information about the dishes as we were not very accustomed to the Chettinad style of cooking. For starters we had Fish 65, which was ok. It was not very spicy or flavorful though. Next we had Appam with Chicken Curry. While I liked the appam, I did not like the taste of the chicken curry. The Veg Korma came with a much better gravy. What I really liked was the Paratha and Mutton Roast. The parathas are like lachcha parathas, but better. They were soft and so delicious that I could have it all by itself. The Mutton Roast was my favorite. Small bite sized pieces of succulent mutton (dry), which was just the right amount of spicy for me. The combination of the paratha and the mutton roast was just divine. I was disappointed that Kothu paratha was not available at the Santa Clara AappaKadai due to lack of kitchen equipments. I plan on visiting the Sunnyvale AapaKadai for having the very famous kothu paratha. Overall, decent food. Has quite a variety to choose from.
