Alright everyone, I’m back at Pizza Antica at Santana Row in Sanra Clara, Ca. That’s right, I said BACK. I skipped writing a review the first time, but had to come back for the dessert. Warm cornmeal shortcake, fresh strawberries and cream. Now before you rush there to place your order, here is the secret… DO NOT ORDER IT WITH THE CREAM!! You MUST substitute it with the vanilla bean gelato. This dessert will have you smiling from ear to ear. The cake alone is soft and warm on the inside with the perfect amount if crackle in the outside (perfect to stand up to the gelato). Fresh berries and gelato round out this sensational sweet! On this dessert alone, I give Pizza Antica 5 out of 5 yum yums.

Pizza Antica (Italian/Pizza). Wow, I never thought a pizzeria could be this bad, and I have indeed eaten at Little Caesar’s before. Let’s not start with the food, because I fear I may gag, and instead focus on the two upsides of this restaurant, excellent service (I mean EXCELLENT) and charming furnishings. I don’t know the name of my server, but he was spectacular. The man answered my questions and jumped through the hoops I set up for him, and was rewarded with a fine tip at the end of the night. His service was the lone highlight of the meal portion of my experience. —Now, let us return to the main issue at hand, the cuisine. Antica prides themselves on their pizza. Let me be the first to tell you that they really shouldn’t, and why. For one, pizza should be circular, not rectangular. Rectangular pizzas often end up cooking far differently than their round counterparts. Corners get burnt, and center pieces end up raw. Also, the toppings on the pizza should not be so insanely thick and juicy that they disintegrate the crust below, turning each piece into a soupy mess instead of a crisp slice. Finally, hair-thin, cracker crust pizza is not traditional in any sense of the word. Crispy, blistered breading that retains a slight stretchy quality is far more correct.Rating: 4.1/1021 Feb, 2014Pesto, Proschiutto, Goat Cheese Pizza (dish review). What in the pope’s name did I just put in my mouth? THIS, THIS pizza right here, is the worst thing I have ever eaten at any of Santana Row’s 30 overpriced and often awful restaurants. Let’s explore why it is so bad…..ONE: The prosciutto is low quality, and if it isn’t low quality, Antica did something to make it taste bland and boring. TWO: Who crumbles up panchetta before drowning it in a pesto sauce? At least leave it somewhat intact to give it a fighting chance.THREE: Who on Earth told you people to put a half wedge of goat cheese on a pesto and mozzarella pizza? Please, just don’t and spare the diner pain.FOUR: Your pesto tastes bitter and oily, the two things a pesto only tastes like if you make it wrong. My grandmother would take this pie back to the kitchen and teach you how to make it right. FIVE: What place dares make a square, flatbread-style pizza and charges $20 for it? Just because everyone has a pizza oven doesn’t mean everyone should try to make it. Traditional pizza is an art form that Antica simply messes up. tasteperiod.blogspot.com

This is my favorite place for pizza. They make pizzas closest to what they are like in Italy! This is also my favorite restaurant in Santana Row in general 🙂

Terrible service. Appetizer came well after the pizza. The bill was incorrect and overpriced twice, taking about 15 minutes to get correct between many tables. Sausage and mushroom pizza was good, margherita was meh.

It’s always busy, but the pizza is good. Has a really thin crust and it tastes like authentic pizza

I HEART Pizza Antica!. I can’t believe I have never written a review for my favorite place on the row! Perfect meal includes the chopped salad, Spicy Fennel Sausage -Portobello Mushroom -Roasted Onion Pizza with added sauce and a Sour Cherry Limeade!!!I get the same thing every time I come which is at least once a month. I should have a table with my name on it.

Great NY style, tried #6 heirloom potato truffle oil pizza. The BLT chopped salad was great. Coffee is strong, the muddy type.
