In a city like Santa Rosa, one doesnt have to look very long or hard to find beer. As a beer writer, I visited here specifically to visit breweries and I did make my way to several of them. But I know that some people would rather sample beer from multiple breweries all in one place and a good choice to fulfill this mission is Belly Left Coast Taproom and Kitchen, in downtown. I visited Belly Left Coast one evening during my brewery tour and was quite hungry when I arrived. The first thing I noticed was the outdoor patio and I could see the place was dog friendly. Wanting to check the place out and avoid a wait, I headed immediately to the bar where I was seated and greeted promptly with a menu. I noticed that the lights were low and it was darker on the interior than expected. Sporting events were on television and the music was turned low. I scanned the menu and ordered a local beer, then decided on a meal for dinner. Belly Left Coast has a simple menu consisting of appetizers, soups & salads, tacos, pizza, and entrees. I was very close to ordering one of the taco options, but at the last minute, I changed my mind and ordered a pizza instead- the Rustic Italian Cheese Pizza to be exact. I was glad I made this decision, as the pizza was about as perfect as it could be. Topped with tomatoes, herbs, garlic, mozzarella cheese, and house red sauce, this well- seasoned pizza pie, with its delicate yet delicious crust, was everything I could want in a pizza and it made a great companion with a local beer. With the beer, I like that Belly Left Coast offers beers and ciders from local operations because that means travelers like myself can sample the local brew and experience the local beer culture. They have plenty of other, more regional beer options as well and adding them up, I believe I counted 25 taps in all. Sure, I have been places with larger beer selections, but this is still good and there is more than enough variety to find a beer you will like, both for food pairing and for drinking solo. Belly Left Coast has a popular happy hour, with special deals on appetizers and drinks, as well as specials on specific days of the week. The food is top- notch and the beer selection is well above average. The downtown location is great for convenience and the service is attentive. All things considered, I cant really find anything wrong with this downtown Santa Rosa eatery and bar and recommend it to anyone in need of quality food and beer. greatbeernow.com
When ever I am back I town love to go to this place. Food has always been great. Love beer selection. Pizza are always very good. Wings are some of the best I have had. The burger they make is awesome. We have always had good service there. We love the atmosphere as well….
Food is always consistently good. I have never had a bad meal here. The 3 hog Mac and cheese is amazing. Especially on a cold day. Love the beet and goat cheese salad. The chicken chili Verde pizza is great. Awesome beer selection. Staff has always been friendly to us. Highly recommend!
Live music, open to the street, nice atmosphere. Sat at the bar & bartender was attentive. Owner was sitting at the bar and was very friendly. Food was delicious, rich & spicy, but delicious. Beer menu is great birth on tap and bottles. A great addition to downtown Santa Rosa. Will definitely be back.
Had two different pork dishes- pulled pork sandwich and crispy pork belly. Pros: The staff. Greeted quickly and given attention right away. Loved that! Served water right away too. Very friendly staff. Cons: The food. Sadly my pulled pork sandwich was super dry, though somewhat flavorful. My pork belly (beware: obviously if you don’t like fatty meat, steer clear), was good but I couldn’t get through all fat. The salad was super bitter, not seasoned well at all. Like I opened a container of salad and ate it right out of there. Even this could’ve possibly been overlooked if the food wasn’t priced so high. It did not warrant the prices. At all. So…interesting experience. Not returning nor recommending.
