The Wharf Exit. It pains me to write this, but I must so here we go…I don’t come here often. It is always busy and at times there is a wait of people outside. I figured seeing as I had not visited in several years I would give it another shot. Is the food tasty? Yes, absolutely! I had the steam pot combo appetizer, side salad and the clam chowder. All were very tasty. Now I’m sure you were wondering why I don’t like this restaurant…its simple…my leisurely post dinner walk home became a sudden sprint in order to make it to the restroom in time. It was by far one of the most painful, wall grabbing exits I’ve experienced in a very, VERY long time. I’m not sure what item it was that created such an explosive outcome, but nonetheless, it happened…and I hated every minute of it.
The food is good but the atmosphere is very dated.
Lackluster. My husband & I had late lunch at Walts. We sat upstairs in a corner. There was so much dust on the overhead rail & artificial plant that I could smell it. My beet salad was bland & the bleu cheese overwhelmed my palate. The emulsified red wine vinaigrette was also a mistake & did not complement the dish.My husband’s seafood chioppino lacked seasoning (kosher salt, pepper, garlic & herbs), and the shrimp were overcooked. Aside from that, the server was friendly and could have been more attentive.
Wine & Food. If you love food and you love wine and you love pairing them together, you must go to Walt’s Wharf. Their outstanding selection of wines, especially California wines, is truly second to none in our local beach areas. The food is very good to excellent with an extensive lunch menu. Sitting in the wide-windowed bar area, watching the beach crowd saunter by, sipping a flight of Chards while eating smoked salmon and tuna, well…heaven should be this good.
Pretty good. Food was yummy. However my mom wasnt a big fan of the fish tacos. Apps took a bit too long. But service was fabulous!
The mussels appetizer is my favorite. Crab cake sandwich is delicious.
Seal Beach Gem. Reservations are not accepted, but it is worth the wait for lunch or dinner. Always fresh seafood.
