Favorite Deli Ever. I’ve been going to Giovanni’s regular since the late 90s. The prices have gone up a couple dollars for a sandwich over the past dozen years, but their quality has remained consistent. They roast their own turkey, roast beef, and pork loin. Their turkey dill salad is delicious. They feature locally made desserts from cookies to cake, and a very wide selection of soft and alcoholic drinks across five or six grocery store style refrigerated doors and a giant wine cabinet, and a freezer of take home dinners like pot pie and lasagna. They even sell Hawaiian shaved ice (the only place in Sebastopol as far as I’m aware.) The staff is nice and they love their regulars. The sandwich cards are well worth filling up, especially with double punches on Tuesdays.
Not going back there again…. Yesterday my son bought lunch for the two of us. He had a snitchel (I can’t spell it correctly) which was fine. I ordered a smoked turkey with cranberry…the turkey was old, it smelled like food that was in the refrigerator too long. I also had carrot cake which was the most dry piece of cake I have ever tried to eat…it wasn’t eaten.I called to talk to the owner yesterday, he was gone. I called back today to speak with him and his partner Sheri (who is the one who made our lunches yesterday) came on the phone and said he was gone for a few days and when I asked when he would be back she said she was busy and hung up the phone. I might add that she was very curt and rude as well. When I called back to get the answer to my question the employee told me that the man owner would be back tomorrow.Service at it’s worst and the food not much better. After 25 years of going to this Deli off and onthat was the last money I’ll spend there. Oh and by the way lunch cost us $25. To big business Safeway or the new deli next to the postoffice from now on. It’s a shame we want to support the smaller guys but with their attitudeno way.
