I once spent some time in La Zona Rosa in Mexico City where I had some of the best mexican food in my life. One restaurant in particular served pastor that was incomparable to anything I’d ever had, mexican or no. Such was the flavor that it brought me back several times during my visit and ended up launching me on a long, determined quest to find something comparable. 7 years, 4 countries, and 30 states later, I can happily say my search is finally over. The pastor at Jalisco’s Grill is not only comparable, but surpasses what I had so long ago in La Zona Rosa. Additionally, their lengua and asada are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. While their carnitas are a bit dry for my taste, they still have an excellent flavor. At $1.50 a piece, their tacos are a steal. Coming only with tortillas and meat, you add your own condiments to your heart’s content at the salsa bar. They have fantastic tortas, fajitas, a great beer and NA beverage selection and an authentic atmosphere. If you’re in South Lake, don’t pass up this gem!
