  • Basil chicken was my favourite dish. Pad Thai was really good too. Beef salad and spring rolls were also tasty. Was not a huge fan of the bbq chicken …

Amazing food and wonderful service! Thai is my favorite cuisine and I like to try a wide array of restaurants. I can say that this place hit the spot with perfect spices and flavors. As someone who uses food ratings and reviews to judge my next food choice, this place is a must if you’re a seasoned fan or new to the exotic taste. Enjoy your meal. You won’t be disappointed!

In SLT visiting family and went to Orchids with my brother and our daughters prior to the local father daughter dance. There was a short wait, but that’s because they were busy with all tables filled. All the food was great. The kids split some tofu fried rice and loved it, with a fair amount leftover to take home. My brother got the Pad Khee Mao which is stir fried wide noodles with veggies and protein of choice, I went with my all time Thai favorite, tofu Pad Thai, extra spicy. All the food was great, a little wait for the food but not too bad, and towards the end had to wait a few for drink refills, but a good meal and good experience, especially for a small town like Tahoe it was an excellent Thai meal. They will also bring out the spice tray if you ask with a nice selection of extra spice sauces to add to you dish, a chili paste/sauce with some nice heat, house pickled jalapeos that are nice and crunchy and nice on their own or added to your dish, and a small chili sauce, green Thai chilis perhaps in a sauce, all were good, and added some nice flavor and heat to the meal. So as some people have said perhaps there are better Thai restaurants in some major cities, but especially for a fairly small town Orchids has some outstanding Thai food. And as far as wait time and service other people’s complaints seem to go back to people not familiar with the Tahoe mentality. If you are in Tahoe and feeling Asian or Thai specifically check it out, I am sure you will not be disappointed. They also have a basic wine list, and beer options, including Thai and Asian beers.

Orchid’s Authentic Thai Cuisine (2180 Lake Tahoe Blvd #1…because there seems to be some confusion between this place and another). As some other reviewers have already stated, this place doesn’t stand up to our favorite Thai restaurants in other areas. However, what we ordered was solid and prepared well, especially for a Thai place is SLT. I can’t imagine SLT is known for its international cuisine.
