I am really curious what was ordered by those who highly rate Simple Bliss Vegan Cafe. I really should have sorted through other reviews before landing here.I was not surprised that the prices were high being in Tahoe. But for a high price I expect quality in both taste and presentation.I have been a vegetarian for 50 years and vegan the most recent decade of that, so I know my way around vegan food. The experience here was a total let down. The first step upon paying in advance for the order was to answer the question on the screen as to the tip amount. I have now learned that in the future to pay for the meal and leave a cash tip based on actual service. Water under the bridge as they say.The over $95 tab included 1x oatmeal, 3x pancakes, 2x smoothies, and 3x carrot cake muffins. I was informed after paying that the carrot cake muffins were mislabeled. I should have accepted the refund offered. The substitute was tasted, but not finished.Next arrived the smoothies. They were OK, but the flavor wasnt there. They were good for washing down the other items attempted.I love oatmeal and often fix plain oatmeal for myself. I could not down but half of the serving and had to wash what I ate down with the smoothie. I hate to see pricy food thrown out, and will usually clear my plate at any price, but this was just too bad.Speaking of plates, I would think for the price I would at least have something substantial to eat with. The plastic fork folded under the pressure to cut through the pancakes that were served on paper plates. The quality of presentation was totally lacking. The muffins looked as if a child had made them in play dough class and the pancakes looked similar to the ones I made as a child. I would post photos of what was left on the table, but as I look at them they are disgusting compounded by being partially eaten.I understand this is perhaps the only vegan cafe in South Lake Tahoe. If true, someone who actually knows how to blend flavors of natural ingredients could supplant this cafe in a couple months. Providing healthy vegan food takes more than just dumping a variety of heathy items into the mix and calling it a healthy dish worthy of praise.
The simple bean bowl was delicious and the steamed coconut milk with cinnamon, turmeric, cloves and black pepper was wonderful. The prices are a tiny high for the portion size, but overall the food quality was worth it.

Not impressed. Service too slow, prices too high & lady behind the counter was not very nice
