Unique experience with very good food. Not knowing what to expect after a recommendation from a local, I quickly learned that this is not a typical restaurant. Old world fare with good service. I had a massive rack of lamb which was very good huge cauldron of cauliflower soup. I will probably return and try some of the other offerings. Coffee after dinner also good.

Family Atmosphere. I had a family dinner here the past week, and enjoyed a meal which consisted of a good sized pork shank with polenta, and rich gravy made with wine. The meal started with bread and salad with the famous house dressing. The meal was very rich, and the waiter was very attentive. For dessert a piece of sweet potato cheesecake, which was also very good.
I enjoy eating dinner at the Basque Cultural Center. I recommend the marinated roast rack of lamb provencale, grilled prawns with basil and garlic sauce, or Tuesday-Sunday. For dessert try the frozen almond nougat, delicious. Great value, superb food.
Make a reservation. Basque restaurants generally offer good hearty food and plenty of it. The Basque Cultural Center seats you at restaurant tables, not the traditional long tables where you broke bread with whoever had just come in, and you can select your own entree. Do call for reservations, especially on weekends. They serve lunch as well. And good hearty wine, including a Basque wine from Madera Country.
