  We ate at Park Avenue for Valentine’s Day and wanted to come back because of the ambiance of Il Garage and because we had such great service at Park Avenue. Il Garage is more intimate and rustic than Park Avenue, and we wanted to see the herb garden again. Perhaps Mother’s Day was just a very busy day, but we were disappointed by the service and food this time around. The server forgot to order our appetizer (it never came), the main course dishes took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and he also forgot to order one of our sides (ordered it after our dinner finally came). After they cleared our dishes, we waited but had to ask for a dessert menu, the ‘homemade’ cherry pie was served cold, and again we waited but had to ask for the bill. No one ever checked on us to see how everything was, or to let us know the food was coming. I am guessing the server was new, since I asked if they had any angel hair and he suggested the fettuccine. It turned out to be quite oily and was quite different than what I was expecting. Overall quite a disappointment, but we will give it one more chance. Hopefully it was just an anomaly!

  Il Garage in Stanton. Friends and I have gone to see the gardens several times but have never eaten there so when we wanted to take some friends to Il Garage I made reservations a week ago and was so excited about actually getting to eat there. Well they called me yesterday and said it wouldn’t be open! Never heard of such a thing and was SO disappointed that now I’m not sure I want to go back. The only thing they offered was a res in The Park restaurant for the same time. We have all eaten there and that was NOT what we wanted to do.
