Il Postale (Italian). From the atmosphere to the good food, Il Postale is a nice choice for fine dining in Sunnyvale. It’s feel is very fancy and formal, but it has prices to match. Service was pretty fast, though the crowds were fairly big. Il Postale’s pork tenderloin was exceptional. It was tender and juicy, and the seasoning was perfect. Il Postale is a safe bet for a good dinner in the South Bay.Rating: 7.5/10 tasteperiod.blogspot.com

California-Italian?. I was disappointed that the Margherita pizza was not the classic recipe but a cheese pizza with some tomatoes and basil on top and some extra chunks of warm-ish buffalo mozzarella. Similarly the recommended dish of penne with sundried tomatoes, black olives, asparagus, and pesto came with feta cheese – an odd choice and one that didn’t go with the rest of the dish. In addition, the pest was so watery that it dripped off the penne.Overall, I was disappointed in the selections, the recipes, and the quality.

Ho Hum. Albeit Il Postale has won awards and has a charming atmosphere, the service is unproffessional and the food often tends to be too plan or too oily.Should you find yourself having to eat there, the seafood risotto is probably your best bet.

Good, not great. First I’d like say that any reviewer who has one meal at a restaurant and tries to give a fair appraisal is disingenuous. You need to try a variety of dishes at least a couple of times to give a useful review. Also, judging an Italian restaurant based on a duck breast is idiotic. That said, on with my review.I’ve been to Il Postale a few times and they have some good pasta dishes and generally have tasty food. Their weaknesses are in the meats (as experienced by another reviewer) and their risotto which is uneven. I would recommend the Linguine with roasted chicken, prosciutto, domestic mushrooms, peas, and parmesan cheese, tossed in a cracked black pepper cream sauce.Their service is spotty and one of their biggest problems. Even when the dishes are good, even though their staff is usually friendly they are often painfully slow.Sunnyvale is in general weak in the dining department except Afghan, but Il Postale is good when compared to its competitors int he area (Pezzella, Pasta Pomodoro, etc.)

Appalling. I had the duck breast. It was overcooked and served with highly overcooked cafeteria style vegetables. Service was slower than a crippled sloth. However, the martini was generous and by the time I finished it I could overlook the miserable food and horrible service. Perhaps I hit it on an off night, other people seem to like it. I won’t be back though
