Serves all the popular snacks that South India is famous for. Also serves rasam vada and pudi (gunpowder). I had my fill of idli-vada-sambhar and a crispy ghee masala dosa. Very very tasty.The place is small and you need to find your own seat – may be a problem with a big group on a busy Sunday morning. Place is worth a revisit.
I visited Madurai Idly Kadai towards the end of my Sunday long walk. The place was super packed on a Sunday morning. There was a long line and there seems to be very less seating. Fortunately being solo, I found a seat really fast. They seem to be unable to handle the crowd and it will take you 5 minutes to reach the front desk to order. There is also a $10 minimum for card purchases. The food in general was good and I had a good breakfast experience overall.Items on my order: Idly, Upma+Vada comboRating:Ambience 2/5 Nothing worthwhile. Too cramped.Food 4/5 – Coconut chutney was not provided but Dhal chutney was.Service 3/5 – Takes time for big orders and they try to give everything at once when the table space available is good only for two plates.Value for money 3/5 – Reduced on account of high price for self service.
The food was very decent. Their chutneys and sambar were good. Idly dosa and pongal were also good. Vada was very so so. The place is too small. I would like to try out other options they have as well. Them being open for breakfast is a great thing!
