Very good kebabs is what this place serves. Extremely soft and juicy meat with the right mix of masalas will definitely win over your hearts. Loved the tandoori chops and the chicken seekh kebab, for me those two are the highlights. The naans are very soft but the gravy dishes are alright. You also get some decent complementary chai. I give this place a 0 for ambience. The tables are filthy but i will definitely go back for the kebabs but will do a takeaway this time

Good place for indo-pak food. I love their chicken breast Lahori, it’s very tasty and served fresh from the tandoor. One may find it but buttery but sure they’ll enjoy. I also had chicken korma and lamb curry, curries were delicious and were oily. Had to separate the oil and had too add a pinch of salt to make it to my taste.I try only select few items here as my experience with other curries and chicken biryani was never good. Always found chicken biryani to be stinking.Looks like the place underwent a much needed renovation. And they prefer cash and give a strange look if you as for Bill.

The prices have gone up in the recent years while the taste of food has taken a southward turn. But this still remains one of my favorite ‘Indian’ (Pakistani) restaurants. The taste of food for the price is hard to beat! The decor is minimal and the sitting is not the most comfortable. It may be quiet and less crowded one day, and extremely noisy the other.

Bad service!. I had a $10 off $20 purchase coupon for Shalimar from the Entertainment.com book I purchased for $35. After eating my food there and ordering another entree to go to make a $20+ bill they tell me they do not accept any coupons. They should post a notice somewhere like that, instead they tell me I should’ve asked first whether they accept coupons. Instead of arguing I just paid and left, unlikely to ever go again. The food is also mediocre, and service was poor.

AHHHHHHHhh I miss it so. I’ve never had such simple foods taste so darn good. When you’re presented with the chicken kabobs over rice. It looks to easy, I could make it but, no. I can’t make chicken heaven on a stick. So tasty, I couldn’t get enough. I live 2,000 miles away and no hope of ever smelling food like this. The first place I go to when I get back to the Bay area is of course the Shalimar.

The best that there is for tandoori stuff! Just watch out for the oil garnishings… Ok once a week or so.
