Made my second trip to Ortega and like the previous trip the food, drinks and service was great.Me and my friends walked in just in time for happy hour so was able to get a pitcher of the house margaritas for $20. Not bad at all. Chips & salsa followed as well as putting in orders for plates. This time around I ordered the tres sopes as an appetizer and the 120 chile relleno duo as my main entree.The sopes were loaded with meat (short rib, chicken and carnitas) and each was delicious. The masa cake was lite and not too thick. They were also (sort of) in the shape of mini bowls so there’s a lot more meat on each than it appears. The chile rellenos (one stuffed with short rib, the other with blended quesos) are amazing. When the dish arrived my eyes widened from the size of the entree. I was not expecting that big of a portion so you definitely get your moneys worth. The flavors itself are awesome. I couldn’t tell if it was the sauce or the egg whites but I got a nice salty flavor that quickly mellows and goes into the flavor of the short rib and all of its fixings. The same applies for the second and its blended quesos. This is now my number one chile relleno dish.I wanted to tackle the brussel sprouts and the flan trio but was too stuffed to go any further. I’ll save this for my next visit and their will be a next visit. Ortega Once again nails a great experience.Visit Dates 5/30/2016 and 7/17/2015
