Meh. I like the interior, a touch of class amidst corporate hell. But all the food was San Diego average which itself is a below average sort of average. We tried the smoked chicken and the salmon sandwiches. One would expect a sandwich claiming to contain smoked chicken breast to contain meat somewhat resembling a chicken breast but it was just a couple of slices of generic meat, the sort of processed turkey-ham-pastrami that all looks and tastes the same regardless of what it claims to be. The salmon sandwich contained an odd looking yellow substance, garlic aioli I suppose, that didn’t seem to have any flavor. The sandwiches were not terrible but to better understand why they are not good, conduct a small experiment. Run up to Encinitas and split a sandwich from Darshan Bakery. Then come down to Opera Patisserie and do the same. Discuss.Similarly the coffee was average; go to nearby Zumbar for much better. We also tried a flourless chocolate dessert which left us similarly unimpressed.

Yummy. I went there to have a salad that had cranberries, chicken, yummy dressing, and other stuff. It was light and just the right amount. It was pretty tasty.

Good food, great deserts but a little expensive. The truffle fries are great as is the pesto chicken sandwich but I have yet to taste the deserts.

I can’t believe they charge u 50cents to turn ur double espresso into an americano! All ur dping is adding hot water! I walked in and not one of the four people greeted me. I never felt so unwelcomed. Ur desserts looked great too bad u don’t have quality waitstaff.

Gluten Free Friendly?. How can a place be gluten friendly if they don’t offer gf foods on the menu? They only have one gluten free item on their pastry menu and it’s your basic flourless cake? Did they make the cake in the same bakery where they bake their other cakes? if so then it’s really not gluten free. I must admit that I didn’t even try to go there. Their website seemed unpromising. I will check it out another day. I just want something to eat right now.

Oooh lala. I was delightfully surprised at the quality of food, not to mention the cafe atmosphere and the excellent service. The shrimp spinach crepes were so delicious that I was able to walk away with an actual smile on my face. I hope they stay in business long enough for me to keep the habit of visiting them.
