Ishi and his wife have a delightful place. As the Silent Spoon has mentioned, quality is paramount here. On my first visit on a Monday morning, Ishi was late arriving, but his able assistant Rio let me in and made a terrific crunchy roll. Later Ishi made a custom roll for me with crunchy asparagus and ahi tuna. Highly recommended!
Real Japanese in Upland. Ishi Sushi is a very nice Japanese restaurant in Upland that has not gotten its due in my opinion. Too many people are looking for low-quality all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi instead of enjoying a finer dining experience. Ishi sushi is not a haughty Japanese place, but a nice mom and pop restaurant that does not sacrifice quality to deliver quantity. If you are anywhere near Ishi Sushi, I would suggest giving this a try.
