Finally a coffeehouse is offering almond milk! For us non dairy and ever aware of soy causing hormone interruption it’s great to have this option. My fav is the unsweetened almond macha latte.. That’s right a no sugar option as well and all organic!! Sorry Starbucks.. Peets has captured my heart.. Thanks for being a first Peets!!

The best the SCV’s got for coffee. Having lived in two coffee-centric cities, Seattle and Austin, I tend to gravitate towards a good, independent coffee shop as soon as I can once I move to somewhere new. When we got into Santa Clarita, it didn’t take long for us to find out that all there was out here was chains and old school diners — you know, what your grandparents thought of when they’d be going to Denny’s and calling it a coffee shop. That doesn’t mean that chains are bad, and one of the plusses to moving out of Seattle was living down the street from a new one with a good rep: Peet’s. And out of what there is in Santa Clarita, Peet’s is as good as it’s gonna get. What it’s got going for it:Service – The service here is superb. The baristas will start remembering your name on your second or third visit. By the fifth or sixth, they’ll know what you like and start making suggestions on new things to try. They’re not afraid to experiment some, and they’re generally skilled at what they’re making — no Starbucks push-a-button-and-steam-a-gallon-of-milk-at-a-time drink making here. It’s an across the board thing, too, not just the work of one or two good ones. That’s impressive.Drinks – Specifically, the coffee, cold espresso-based drinks, and tea. Coffee comes in a range comparable to any major brand, but still holds onto the small-roaster feel from the few I’ve tasted. Teas are mixed and generally flavorful without being too bold. And the cold drinks, which tend towards a more coffee flavor and away from the sugary-sweetness of Starbucks drinks, have some kick to them. Be forewarned — the Fredos, Peet’s version of a granita/batida/Frappucino, are closer to an iced latte than a coffee-flavored milkshake. Some’ll like it, some won’t, but it’s a nice change of pace.Atmosphere – Good for studying or work, as it tends to be quiet, there’s always an open desk, outlets are accessible, and hours are generally good (open till 9 every day). Wifi is free for an hour with a register-printed code, but they’ll give you another one if you ask nicely.Cons:Also drinks – Hot drinks were adequate, but nothing that knocked me off my feet. But take that with a grain of salt, as I’m the kind of coffee snob that goes to elite SCAA barista competitions and complains about the pitch of the sound a steam wand makes if not done just right. My litmus tests of whether a place is really excellent are the solo macchiato and a double cappuccino; neither were memorable. With that said, it still beat out anything else you’ll find nearby. Not bad, even better than mediocre, but not great either. Also atmosphere – On the flip side, it’s not the most comfortable place. If you want a coffeehouse where you’ll sit in a big comfy chair to chat with friends, this isn’t it. Just tables and hard wood.Temperature – It’s always freezing inside for some reason. Minor complaint, but I’ve started to bring a jacket, just in case.Overall experience at Peet’s is pretty good. The service takes it a long way, and I’m willing to overlook a lot when a guy remembers my name, what I like, and even thinks to suggest new things. It’s a rarity, and it’s what really makes Peet’s shine. Until the day comes that a great indy coffeehouse opens up, this is what we’ve got. Fortunately for us, it’s got a lot going for it.
