Work of art! Set menu that changes frequently and is mostly locally sourced. Best tasting restaurant in the area. Small place with a counter that allows diners to enjoy the chef creating the masterpieces. Service is A+ as well.
Just came home from our second visit to Michael Warring. The food is very local, seasonal, unique and most importantly, just delicious. The beef filet was tender and full of flavor, enhanced by the sauted chanterelle mushrooms, but my favorite part was dessert; brioche donuts with homemade chocolate ice cream and chantilly cream. We sat at the bar and watched Michael cook for us, chatting with him all the while. Come eat here while you can still get a reservation!
My Second Visit to Michael Warring Restaurant. I pleased to say that my second trip to Michael Warring equaled the experience of my initial visit. Elated by my first visit two months ago, I returned this time with another couple, to see what Michael Warring was going to offer. I am pleased to say, the second meal was no less memorable than my first. The fresh greens, at the beginning of the meal, were much the same as during my prior visit. The salty Champagne Vinaigrette was an excellent accompaniment to the bitterness of the greens. The roasted loin of long & bailey pork with the Danvers carrot, rouge vif d’etampe, and green beans was outstanding. The searing on the pork was amazing. We had been looking forward to the pineapple upside down cake with pineapple guava ice cream, and salted caramel with anticipation. The cake component was indefinably delicious. Was it a scone? Was it a biscuit? Nothing in any of our memories could classify why the inside was so light, while the outside had a firm crunch. Michaels version of pineapple upside down cake ranks in my top ten desserts of all time.I came to the conclusion that while I tend to be a protein with heavy sauce guy, Michaels unsullied, elegant food satisfies my spiritual pallet.26 Aug, 2012It is about the Experience. Several thoughts predominated as I savored each course of Michaels presentation. First and foremost was: When a relatively new chef achieves this degree of excellence, just how long is it before the average person cant reserve a table without several weeks, or months notice? This lead to a quandary as to whether it was even a good idea to write a review on one of the best dining experiences I ever have enjoyed. Michael Warring is sharing something very special with his diners, so it seems only fair to applaud his vision. Keller, Waters, Danko, just who is Warrings style like? Based on one evenings meal Id say it is a bit like dining at a very, very intimate Chez Panisse; Having said that, It isnt accurate to depict Warring as a clone to Waters, so instead Id rather contrast his prix fixe dining to another chefs presentation. Having eaten at Charlie Trotters on several occasions I was always struck by the remarkable elements in some very complicated courses. Unfortunately, they were often too complicated, making the overall experience very discordant. Michaels presentation was the antithesis of Trotters. From the first course to the last, clean presentation after clean presentation, the meal flowed effortlessly educating me to the delights of borage, freshly picked greens, pineapple tomatillos, and baby carrots that made me shamelessly beg my wife to give me one of hers. Michaels ingredients are now my standard of what really fresh vegetables should taste like. I love to cook because I relish controlling the spices and textures of each dish. I love to eat because of experiences like Michael shared with us last night.
Perfection, Presentation..just goooood. We ate at Micheal Warrings once and it was wonderful. We returned tonight and found it was just as good or better. Michael prepares your exceptional dining experience in front of your eyes. Perfectly presenting and preparing your meal. From beginning to the end…excellent. A rare restaurant experience. Just minutes off 80. Only one selection but everything is wonderful. Great place to stop on your way down 80 to San Francisco or just a short drive from Walnut Creek or Napa.
