My friend and I come here for special occasions as it can get a little pricey. However, when we do come, we enjoy every bite during our usual 3 hour course. The service is also always spot on. We have tried a number of omakase’s throughout los angeles as well as other parts of the states. This one always stands out because they are constantly changing the dishes as the seasons change with the freshest fish that time of year. I would rate this restaurant as one of the top 3 we have ever been to.
TOTALLY OVERRATED. This is the second time I go to Asanebo. The first time I did not like it , so I decided to give it a second chance to be able to understand the credits given. It failed the second time as well.My reasons are: YOU CAN GET EQUALLY GOOD QUALITY JAPANESE FOOD IN TOWN WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY SO MUCH.I ended up having a couple of dishes which I have tried better in other restaurants for less price. Without going to far, Kiwami across te street is a much better , cheaper and less pretencious restaurant. Asanebo do has a good atmosphere and servcie, but again nothing that you can not find anywhere else.It is not worthed folks, and I am a foodie, who does not minds paying for a good meal and take my restaurants seriously, but this oneis Not worthed !!!
They have a Michelin Star!. Consistently the best Japanese in Studio City…and I have eaten at most of them. Even my Japanese friends from NYC wanted to move here for the food!
I am new to sushi and definitely new to sashimi. But I must admit that almost everything that we tried there was awesome. The down side is that we had everything on the menu just about. The worst side about that was the bill. Four dollar signs doesn’t even describe it. There were three of us in our party and our bill exceeded $500. We only drank beer so it wasn’t about the alcohol tab. With the shasimi dishes costing upwards of 25 about 8 of those later and six ounces of meat for $130. If there is anyway tk expense the meal…that’s the best way to it. Great atmosphere, great food, just be mindful of what your ordering for the sake of your wallet.
Sooo worth it. Despite being in a mini-mall, this restaurant serves impossibly delicious food. If you are truly adventurous, ask for the Omakase. You will only be disappointed in the fact that you may never be able to order the dish again, as the chef made a lot of stuff up when we were there!
